Sales Engineer

Job Description

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, experienced and outgoing person that will quickly become an  integral part of our collaborative team. Possess and utilize excellent product knowledge, solutions and  services skills as well as customer knowledge to act in a consultative selling role to our customers.  Understand BlueBay’s value proposition and take responsibility for all stages of the sales process:  prospecting, lead follow-up, product demos, negotiations and closing. Travel 3-4 days per week within  the territory to meet with existing customers while developing new sales opportunities, pursue sales  leads and expand BlueBay relationships with both the customers and our manufacturing partners. Work  in partnership with sales, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing partners to meet/exceed monthly  sales goals. BlueBay’s Sales Engineers are challenged to continuously work to increase customer satisfaction. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Consultative selling – selling a solution not a product 
  • Set sales goals and objectives, develop sales/business plans, establish call plans and strategies,  develop account profiles and execute the sales plan 
  • Apply market and account skills necessary for dealing with specific, high-level target customers  to meet/exceed assigned metrics for sales activity 
  • Identify and develop account penetration strategies to deliver value to the customer and  document savings in the value proposition 
  • Develop effective relationships with decision makers at accounts: executives, product  management, engineering, operations and purchasing 
  • Assist with development, design, evaluation, and modification of system solutions and  architecture to meet customer requirements 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BlueBay products, solutions, services and competitor  strengths, weaknesses and applications 
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through in-depth knowledge of customer's  organization, increasing account dedication, timely communication and follow up
  • Initiate and conduct customer presentations and demonstrations on BlueBay products and solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Atlanta, South Carolina, or North Carolina area location
  • Preference given to a degree in engineering or commensurate technical experience in a  professional industrial sales environment
  • Minimum of 3+ years consultative technical selling experience with strategic account  management 
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills coupled with strong negotiation  proficiency  
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities  simultaneously in a fast-paced environment is a must 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but not limited to management,  coworkers, clients, vendors and contractors 
  • Must have a good understanding of the sales process and the roles and responsibilities of a sales  engineer 
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete a job 
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner • Familiar with computers, CRM software, Microsoft Office, distribution & accounting software,  etc. 
  • Regular and reliable attendance at work 
  • Self-motivated, assertive and conscientious 
  • Ability to work independently, adapt quickly and maintain a positive attitude • Travel within the territory is required 

Required Travel

  • Automobile travel often within the territory- Valid driver's license required and no prior suspensions
  • Plane travel from time to time
