Separate controlled motion from the weld process
Robotic arc welding coordinates a robot with welding equipment. The robot positions and moves the torch, but the result also depends on the process and the work presented to it.
An additional axis is an access capability, not a weld-quality certification. Likewise, a conventional industrial arm does not automatically make unsuitable process settings or inconsistent assemblies acceptable. Compare how the complete system addresses the actual joint.
Define acceptable before the demonstration
Provide the relevant drawing requirements and explain how your business accepts the weld today. Appearance may matter, but it should not replace the acceptance criteria appropriate to the product.
Ask what evidence the proposed review will produce. Avoid treating an attractive demonstration coupon as approval for a different material, joint, or assembly. The comparison should be specific enough that the results mean something to your production team.

Imagine a supplier demonstrating an open, easily positioned coupon. Your production part places a similar joint near another member and has different access and heat-flow conditions. The coupon can show the process in one situation without establishing the result on your assembly.
The next useful evidence is a representative application review under the relevant conditions. Copying the coupon settings or assuming the robot's repeatability makes the situations equivalent would skip the central engineering question.
Compare complete methods fairly
Give competing proposals the same product requirements and be explicit about the demonstrated scope. Record what was inspected, what parts were used, and which variations remain untested. This prevents a persuasive photograph from carrying more weight than it should.
